Aluminum Cast House

SELEE Corporation invented the concept of using ceramic foam as a filter media for molten aluminum. We are at the forefront of developments in the aluminum filtration, melt treatment and molten metal transfer processes.

Innovating For Next

Ceramic Foam Filters

The Ceramic Foam Filter (CFF) of SELEE® structure was the first cost-effective media to remove non-metallic inclusions from molten aluminum.

Introduced by SELEE in the mid-1970s, and redeveloped with CS-X®, the SELEE Ceramic Foam Filter continues to be the standard for aluminum filtration in cast houses all over the world.

Ceramic foam filters of SELEE® structure are available in sizes from 225mm to 660mm (9 inches to 26 inches) square and a wide range of pore sizes.

As the stream of molten aluminum alloy travels through the tortuous path of the filter, non-metallic inclusions are captured inside the ceramic structure.

The filtered metal is significantly cleaner. Cleaner metal results in higher quality castings, less scrap, and fewer inclusion defects, all of which contribute to bottom line profit.

Ceramic Foam Filters of SELEE® structure are available in sizes from 225mm to 660mm (9 inches to 26 inches) square and a wide range of pore sizes.  In addition, the SELEE CS-X® phosphate free formulation is safer both for the environment and for your employees.

SafeSeal® and other proprietary gasket formulations insure a secure fit in the filter bowl.

KNOW THE DIFFERENCE

Did you know that phosphate bonded ceramic foam filters can result in...

Environmentally Dangerous Toxic Gas Release

The release of phosphine gas - a neurotoxic and highly flammable gas.

Poor Casting Quality

Higher Scrap - Damaged tooling. Edge crushing and filter particles released into the downstream metal.

How Safe Are Your Filters For You?

Magnesium phosphide reacts with moisture in the air to form phosphine gasAccording to the 2009 U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) pocket guide, and U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulation, the 8 hour average respiratory exposure should not exceed 0.3 ppm. NIOSH recommends that the short term respiratory exposure to phosphine gas should not exceed 1 ppm. The Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health level is 50 ppm.
